Theme reveal: The 13th Hour…

We’re so excited to share the 2024 June Event theme with you! The Thirteenth Hour has been a subtle undercurrent running throughout literature, films and our cultural psyche.

The phrase 'The Thirteenth Strike of the Clock' indicates an inexplicable feeling of something having gone wrong. Indeed, the start of Orwell's dystopian novel 1984 is marked by the clocks striking thirteen and in the seminal film 'Labyrinth' Sarah has thirteen hours to save her brother from an unwanted fate. Yet the thirteenth strike also marks the moment that Tom can enter his garden of wonder and bliss in Pearce's 'Tom's Midnight Garden'.

At this year's Trinity Hall June Event, we will be taking you on a journey... from the dark and eerie world of Orwell to the bliss of Pearce's garden. With references ranging from Dali to Blyton it will be an immersive experience celebrating both the dark and the light that occupy our world.

We cannot wait to see you all there!
